Get to know our talented Director for the upcoming short film Otis Edward Rashad“WHO IS EDWARD RASHAD? As a star basketball player at Hattiesburg High School, Edward Rashad Smith was known as the “singing baller”. Today, he has evolved into an experienced vocal artist, writer, dancer, producer and entertainer. He has already produced two albums: I Never Thought in June 2006 and Multi-Talented in January 2017, and Ride Love & Forgiveness in 2019. His love for different genres of music and the pressures of urban life make him one the south’s top young lyricists. He has shared the stage with industry veterans such as David Banner, Keith Sweat, B2K, Omarion, Jesse McCartney, Bow Wow, and K-Ci and JoJo and he credits making good music to artists such as Tank, Usher, The Underdogs, and Prince. Rashad Smith has received awards for video of the year and single of the year for his song “Questions” off of the album Multi-Talented.After personally feeling the effects of hurricane Katrina in 2005, Rashad performed in The Katrina Project: Hell and High Water, where he was awarded “Best Supporting Actor” and listed in the Mississippi Theatre Association.Being willing and ready to follow his dreams, has led Rashad to acting roles in Beautiful Creatures, the James Brown Biopic Get On Up, Black Panther, I Still Believe, ABC’s Women Of The Movement, and several other projects. He utilizes what he has learned from Hill Harper, Ivana Chubbuck, Lance Nicholas, Chadwick Boseman and more, in his addition to his passion for acting.For over a decade, Rashad has traveled across the country and even into Brazil sharing his powerful voice and impeccable gifts with the world.
